How amazing is this outfit created using The Ava Blouse and Fleur Pinafore?
Sewing a pink Ava Blouse and plaid Fleur pinafore to create this outfit was one of my favourite sewing projects.
When it comes to fabric, Minerva.com’s vintage-washed cotton is a perfect choice. Not only is it affordable, it is also easy to handle and sew. It has a similar texture and feel to linen, but without the crease factor. And what’s more, there are 19 different colours to choose from, so you can find whatever shade you need for your project.

Choosing the perfect fabric for your pink Ava blouse
For this project, I chose a dusky pink for the Ava blouse and a plaid fabric from my stash for the Fleur pinafore. I used the Ava Blouse sewing pattern , which comes in sizes 6-22 and includes step-by-step instructions and a full video tutorial.

I opted for the long-sleeve version with a pussy bow detail. The end result is absolutely stunning! The two fabrics are a perfect match and they come together to create a look that is both elegant and timeless.
Styling Your Pink Ava Blouse With A Plaid Fleur Pinafore
For the pinafore, I chose the Fleur Sewing Pattern, my latest design. The fabric I chose is this gorgeous plaid which I purchased a few months ago. I did know that I was going to make it into a pinafore as soon as I bought it.

The design has two tiers of frill from the bodice of the pinafore, which gives it an extra special swishiness factor. I am totally in love with this look and can’t wait to wear it throughout the winter and into the spring. I may even have to buy more of this amazing vintage-washed cotton fabric in different colours and create a whole wardrobe of looks!

So if you’re looking for a unique and stylish way to update your wardrobe, why not try combining two different fabrics? With a bit of creativity and the right fabric, you can create a timeless and truly one-of-a-kind look.
Combining Colours and Patterns – Pink & Plaid
So this is my 4th project using this amazing vintage washed cotton fabric.
I love it so much. The feel and structure is very similar to linen, but without the crease factor.
I knew that I had to sew an outfit using both of these fabrics and had an idea of a pussy bow-style blouse with a pinafore-style dress.
The Ava Blouse is a great sewing pattern because it has two sleeve lengths and also two necktie details.
I opted for the long-sleeve version with pussy bow detail. The pattern is available as a PDF and comes in sizes 6-22 with step-by-step instructions and a full video tutorial.
The fabric is so easy to handle and sewing is a dream. I seriously love this fabric, it’s like working with linen because it has a similar texture. I also love the vintage-washed feel and appearance too, it just gives your garment that extra special look, without the linen price tag!
How To Add Style
Adding a unique and stylish touch to your wardrobe doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. The perfect way to do so is by combining two different fabrics to create a one-of-a-kind look. And that’s exactly what this blog post is all about!
