#swapsharesew Challenge 2020
The original idea behind the challenge was to pair up like-minded amateur dressmakers through Instagram, swap pretty sewing notions to add to a garment and more importantly make new friendships! We also had some amazing prizes donated from pattern companies too!
It was such a great success last year and so many new sewing friendships created that we are running it again for 2020!
This year we have added a few changes to the criteria of the challenge as follows:-
Swap Parcel To Include ……
- pair of pockets or handmade sew in label
- ribbons, buttons or trims
- surprise item
We also encourage all participants to ‘shop their stash’ where possible, keeping costs to a minimum, with a maximum spend of £10.00 including postage!
And again this year we have been kindly gifted some fantastic sewing-related prizes for 4 lucky winners!
We all love pockets!
My lovely sewing friend Rosy has a unique vintage style that she totally rocks! She loves her dressmaking and always adds her own unique style to whatever she makes. Her outfits are always fabulous, and like me, she loves adding pockets! Here she is wearing her newly made Hinterland Dress and of course, it has pockets!
Are you going to take part?
We would love to welcome you to take part in the challenge, make new friends and be in with a chance of winning a prize. If this is something that interests you then simply follow both myself and Rosy.

PDF Pocket Template
I have designed a lovely pocket template for you to download and use in your dressmaking. Here you can see my pocket just peeping out on my mustard corduroy pinafore. Its a self-drafted design pinafore pattern and I am so in love with how it turned out. This is my second and final draft, the original I made in Olive green linen didn’t have pockets so now it is just perfect! I am hoping to create this design into a graded pdf pattern for you to download and create for yourself …. so watch this space!
Obviously, you don’t have to participate in the challenge and the template is free for anyone to download! Simply click the link for the free template and enjoy in your dressmaking! Pocket Template.
Happy sewing!
